The
watchmaker’s gene.

Clock and watchmaking workshop Wechtl und Bentz rests on more than 100 years of repairing and timepiece making tradition.

Wechtl und Bentz are state-of-the-art master watchmakers, but are nevertheless dedicated to the practice of traditional craftsmanship.

Working from their “Zeitbureau” at Neustift am Walde 91 and their “Präzisionswerkstätte” at Haus Bentz in Karlstein an der Thaya in Lower Austria – the heart of Austrian clock and watch making – they offer everything from the servicing of extra-slim, modern chronometers all the way to manufacturing and restoring historical timepieces.

The course of time.

Wechtl und Bentz are the continuation of a clock and watch making history which, since the beginning of the previous century, has always been about updating, bestowing and preserving the valuable knowledge of watchmaking.

Great grandfather Josef Bentz (born 1911) founded “Präzisionswerkstätte Bentz” in Retz, Lower Austria, at the dawn of the 20th century, and ran a clock and watchmaking store in Vienna.

Grandfather Erich Bentz (born 1940), who used to direct the practical clock and watch making course at the College of Horology in Karlstein an der Thaya, specialises in clocks.

Wolfgang’s mother, Susanne Wechtl-Bentz (born 1964), sells and distributes timepieces and jewellery.
